Esalen massage comes from the Esalen Institute on the coast of Big Sur, California. Its long, soothing strokes and gentle stretches are profoundly relaxing. Esalen massage melts tension, decreases stress and improves flexibility. Esalen and lomi lomi massage blend together beautifully.
Lomi Lomi Massage
This nurturing style has flowing, rhythmic strokes, like ocean waves lapping the shore, and feels wonderful. Originally from Hawaii, lomi lomi was once reserved exclusively for the island kings and royalty.
Michael Caan: A Little Background
I first discovered Esalen massage in college, when I hosted a community massage class with a teacher from Esalen. Back then I made my first massage table out of plywood! In the years since I’ve had many classes at Esalen, including anatomy for massage, advanced Esalen massage, massage with hot stones, etc.
I studied traditional and advanced lomi lomi massage with Carrie Rowell, a lomi lomi master in Hawaii.
I am licensed as a Certified Massage Therapist by the State of California.
